parkoCurrently unstoppable sitting #1 in the World and voted Surfer Poll's #2,  Joel Parkinson.

mayaAlso worth mentioning Brazilian Maya Gaberia (who wasn't available to make it to the awards) was nominated for "Worst Wipeout" for a gnarly barrel she jumped and tumbled with out at Teahupoo.

Maya's words on the wipeout "It was possibly going to be my first wave of the day, Raimana started the ski and drove towards it.  I remember he said, "I'm just looking." The next thing I knew I felt like I was in...but then I hear, "NO!" It was too late. I remember air-dropping then falling on my back, watching the lip coming to smash me, but before that happened I went over the falls with the amount of water that was sucking off the reef. Heaviest wipeout of my life!"

Watch footage of tumbler sure to make you cringe...
